Agios Ioannis, in the Foinikas area of south-west Rethymno - the natural pass between the town and the villages of the south.
The villa stands where the road meets a cypress forest of some twenty hectares, at 480 metres, just before the Kotsifos gorge. High enough that the evenings are cool through August, close enough that the south-coast beaches are a short drive down through the gorge.

From Rethymno town
South on the road towards Spili and the coast - a short drive, and the last part of it is the best part.
From Chania airport
Seventy-five kilometres east along the north coast, then inland and up.
The last stretch
The Kotsifos gorge road climbs from the coast with the walls close on both sides. Take it slowly; there is nowhere better to be delayed.
